Jeden Morgen kommt ein kleiner brauner Hund in das Café an der Ecke. Er setzt sich neben die Tür und wartet. Die Kellnerin bringt ihm Wasser in einer kleinen Schüssel. Alle Gäste denken, der Hund gehört zu jemand anderem.
Aber niemand weiß, wem der Hund wirklich gehört. Ein Mann sagt: "Das ist bestimmt der Hund von meiner Nachbarin." Eine Frau sagt: "Nein, ich glaube, er gehört dem Bäcker." Der Hund hört zu und wedelt mit dem Schwanz.
Am Abend, wenn das Café schließt, steht der Hund auf und geht allein nach Hause. Niemand folgt ihm. Vielleicht braucht dieser Hund gar keinen Besitzer — nur ein Café, das ihn jeden Morgen willkommen heißt.

Every morning, a small brown dog comes into the café on the corner. He sits down next to the door and waits. The waitress brings him water in a small bowl. All the guests think the dog belongs to someone else.
But nobody knows who the dog really belongs to. A man says, "That's definitely my neighbor's dog." A woman says, "No, I think he belongs to the baker." The dog listens and wags his tail.
In the evening, when the café closes, the dog gets up and walks home alone. Nobody follows him. Maybe this dog doesn't need an owner at all — just a café that welcomes him every morning.
