Lernziele (What you'll be able to do)
- Describe typical job activities using bei and in.
- Give instructions using the Imperativ (du-Form and Sie-Form).
- Write a formal or informal work email in German.
Core Grammar 1 — Berufe beschreiben: bei oder in?
Use bei with specific company names and in with generic workplace types:
| Rule | Example | Translation |
|---|---|---|
| bei + konkrete Firma | Sie arbeitet bei Lieferoodoo. | She works at Lieferoodoo. |
| in + genereller Arbeitsplatz | Er arbeitet im Seniorenheim. | He works in a nursing home. |
| in + Schule/Krankenhaus | Adriana arbeitet an/in der Grundschule. | Adriana works at the primary school. |
Tip: When in doubt — if you'd say "at [brand/company name]" in English, use bei. If you'd say "in a [type of place]", use in.
Examples

|---|---|
| Rob ist Kassierer bei EDIKO. | Rob is a cashier at EDIKO. |
| Paul ist Altenpfleger im Seniorenheim. | Paul is a care worker in the nursing home. |
